Use the following resources to find your information.  Science book pg. 696-714. Buckle Down Book pg. 48-55, Coachbook pg 34- 41 and pg 56-57, Computers- EXPERT SPACE

  Your assignment is to collect the following data for each planet or object in the solar system.  You are going to be making a Solar System Book.  You need to use a separate page for each planet or object.  You should write your answers in complete sentences.  You are going to be required to include a drawing for each object.  Use this rubric to check your work.

You must include the following objects in your book:  the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Asteroid belt, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, the Dwarf Planets, comets, meteoroids, and asteroids.

You must include a drawing for each object!

1. What is it or what is its name: This would be the ŇTermÓ.

 

2.  Location; where is it found?  Between which planets; how far from the sun; how far from Earth?

 

3.  Rotation and revolution; how long are its days and years?  Does it rotate like the Earth or differently?

 

4.  Size:  how big is it, diameter, gravity, compared to the Earth?

 

5.  Composition; What is it made of? What minerals or gases?

 

6.  What is it like on the surface?  Terrestrial or gas giant, temperature.  Details!

 

7. How many moons does it have, what are their sizes, and is there anything unusual about any of a particular planetŐs moons?

 

8.   Does it have an atmosphere and what is it composed of?

 

9.   What did you find interesting or special about this planet or object?

CONCLUSION:  On the last page of your book, explain which of the planets you believe man should go to and explore, and why.
